Chelsea seagulls at home this week, the boys were desperate to get some result for their effort. BANG. 9 Goal to 1 first quarter, the ball was flying everywhere and Chelsea couldn’t get it into their forward 50. The guys in the middle were on fire and the three big men in the forward line of Calder, Whelan and Williams couldn’t be controlled. We stalled during the second and third quarters but with a five goal to zip last quarter we walked away with a resounding 82 point victory. As good as the win was it just shows how much we have let ourselves down over the last few months and what kind of football we are capable of playing. Great team effort though and it was great to see a few smiling.

With the first half of the season over we are all hoping for a few wins in the Reserves. Once again we had the first goal on the board early in the first quarter and playing some good footy with Lachie dominating in the ruck and our onballers getting first use of the ball. With Chelsea extending their lead out to four goals late in the third quarter the boys were up against it. The final quarter on its way the boys did not throw the towel & they kept on fighting to the siren, with determination that all the players have shown a win is just around the corner

Coming of a disappointing loss last week we looked forward to an improvement in effort across the board. With the addition of Crawf and Sus from Mt Martha our first efforts were improved and we were able to control the game for long periods. Kalen Bird slipped through 9 majors in a great display of how to execute the roll as a small defensive forward. Overall a pass mark was achieved.

Luckily our players know how to play netball coz they sucked at the mind bending drills at our indoor training session.  So Melissa is back forward or left right?  Candace is so athletic that she made a simple drill harder for herself. Meg who do you pass too or where do you go if you catch the ball? Even coach Michelle tested herself in the mind game. At least we exercised our abdomens laughing.

Game day had us all competitive starting with D’s getting their first points for the season, albeit only 2. Courts were very slippery so good excuse for stepping this week. Steph and Sophie combined well in goals with Naomi intercepting well when moved to GK. We won’t talk about what to do if the final whistle has gone and you have a penalty pass or shot awarded, will we Steph?

The C’s took a while to adjust to their new lineup. Erin and Melissa did lots of work in the midcourt as Dee and Britt created turnovers but we struggled to finish off goals. Great last qtr coming from 12 down to lose by 6.

Congrats to Gabby promoted to B and she combined well with Meg in defence for numerous turnovers which gave Holly, Larissa and Alex heaps of opportunities. Bullet passes from Leah the highlight of the game along with Leisel’s intercepts at WD.

Caitlin had a day out in A, unbeatable in defence. Our goalers stats were low % but able to have plenty of shots to assist with a comfortable win. The 2 x Tess on the wings getting turnovers and drives in the midcourt helped set us up.
