Off to Bonbeach this week which hasn’t been a happy hunting ground in recent years. We started well with the intensity well up on last week’s disappointing effort, but still found ourselves slightly behind on the scoreboard at the first break due to a lack of execution with our foot skills. The rest of the day turned into a real grind with Bonbeach always holding us at by a few goals. Mick Gay was dominating the ruck contest and giving first use of the ball to our midfield. Joel Miller, Chris Baker and Warwick Miller were winning plenty of the ball through the guts giving us more inside 50 entries than Bonbeach but we probably didn’t use the ball well enough going forward and our forwards probably didn’t make the most of their opportunities throughout the day. In the end Bonbeach ran out victorious by a couple of goals, but I was happy with the effort the guys showed through the day it was just frustrating not to get the four points.

Every week seems to be a big game for the reserves and this week was no exemption with the boys up against second place Bonbeach. For three quarters Bonbeach had us covered while we tried hard and never gave up we could not get a goal on the board. With the start of the last quarter all I wanted was for the boys to kick a couple of goals and make Bonbeach feel that they have played a worthy opposition and that’s exactly what the boys did and played out the game. It was great to see players like Sammy Dalziel ,Louis A ,Chris D play great games. With Seaford at home this week we are looking for a good performance.

With a depleted list we headed down the road to Bonbeach to take on a group of boys who are on the up. The greasy conditions made ball handling difficult and to the credit of Bonbeach they toiled away to eventually run over the top of us.
Better players on the day were Lachie Hewitt, Gus Turner and Luke Ambler.

YAY – 4 points for D grade – on a roll. Only 7 players and each played to the coach’s instructions. We welcomed back Erica and Katie who were awesome in defence.

Wealth of experience – coach and matriarch - Sue

Intelligent player and accurate passer- Naomi

Never gave up and youngest player - Amie

New player and great first game - Katie

Excellent movement at GA - Steph

Running midcourt player - Bec

Strong rebounder in defence - Erica

C’s started off well too with Alex and Sophie working well in goals. Erica fronted up again and combined with Dee to give us a massively tall defence. With Erin and Kyaa putting pressure on the pass to goals we had numerous turnovers and were able to build on each quarter.

Good talking by Monica assisted Eliza and Meg in defence in B’s. Leah loved prancing around in the C bib. The dynamic duo in Brittany and Holly were on target again. Melissa promoted up and put in a strong performance in midcourt.

A’s were pushed by Sharkettes and game was not as free flowing as expected. Alex and Caitlin were on top in the first quarter but we struggled in the second. We lifted our intensity in the third and broke away with a handy lead once Katey and Sarah got their eye in. Tess was in everything at C and put in a BOC performance.

Four from four in a great contested days netball.
