Another quick start against Karingal away saw us up by 5 goals at quarter time. Mick Gay was back through the middle and the little guys were too fast for the Bulls midfield. We held that advantage all day up until three quarter time. The last quarter was probably the worst quarter of football I’ve seen in the last 3 years, the players threw in the towel and Karingal (who had kicked 5 goals for the day up until that point) slammed on 7 goals to 1 to finish winners by a kick. Best players for the day were Haddock, DeRuyter, Martin, Dickson, Joel and Warwick Miller.

With a trip to Karingal and with six players pulling out between Thursday and Saturday morning it was always going to be a battle .With the first quarter on its way the boys battled hard if only for some poor kicking at goals we should of been in front. The second on its way and the boys lost their way and at half time were five goals down. With nothing to lose the boys played some good football for the rest of the game going down by 8 goals. Even though we lost we showed signs of improvement which is very encouraging and i know that if we keep working hard at training we will get better and better and a win will won’t be far away

Firstly, congratulations to Ash Williams who played his first game in the 1's. Ash has had a super consistent year in the 19's and deserved his chance to play up.
Round 8 had us on the road again taking on Karingal. Karingal, like us, has mixed form this year and we were well aware that they are capable of beating anyone on their day particularly on their home deck. Our pressure around the footy was much improved from previous weeks and we were able to get the ball back and score going the other way. The conditions made the game a real slog and we were happy to get out of there with the points. Better players on the day were Leigh Sevcik, Hayden Anderson and Jack Wells.

We travelled to the Bullpit last week with hope in our hearts of maybe bringing home the bickies in 1 or 2 games but this was not to be the case.

D’s were comfortably beaten by the top team but didn’t give up at any stage. Turnovers by Pippa and Em gave Lauren and Hayley plenty of work through the mid court with Steph and Mel working hard in goals.

Sophie was promoted to C grade and switched ends from goals to defence and did not disappoint. We matched the Bulls on the scoreboard in the 2nd and 4th. Gabby switched to goals and combined well with Larissa with Erin and Melissa giving their all in the last.

Our B grade defence of Eliza and Meg had to work hard to cut off passes to the tall GS. We matched the Bulls in the mid court for all 4 quarters and Holly and Britt in goals gave us every opportunity. However the scoreboard showed differently. Once again we switched a goaler to defence with Britt at GK in the 3rd paying dividends and stopped the bleeding. A great show of determination by all players had us even in the second half.

A’s had the closest contest for the day which we expected.  Scores level at ¼ and ½ times. Katey was strong in goals and Candace went looking for the loose ball and turnover at GD.  Alex played an exceptional defensive game against the experienced Bulls however we pulled up short by 8 in the end.  Good to know we can challenge any team if we put our minds to the task.

After the break it’s YC’s turn to feel the Doggies bite.
